My website doesn't work properly on an iPad–do I need to switch themes?
-
I’ve set up my research website using tehr Misty Lake theme, with tabs across the trop, and then drop down boxes coming from them. works just fine on my desktop, but when I try accessing my site from an iPad, I can’t access the drop down boxes. I’m wondering if I need to adjust the way I’ve structured my Menu, or if it would be simpler to change themes to one that works equally well across both platforms–any advice would be great

Yes, this is how it looks on my side too. The issue is clicking on these drop down menu items–especially under the research tab where there’s two levels of drop down menus. The content rarely appears and the page defaults back to the welcome page–any advice on how to make it more easily navigable would be greatly appreciated…
Thanks for the response

Hey Dave,
When I use the multiple submenus beneath “Research”, the tabs appear to work correctly. However, if you click outside of the menu boxes and happen to hit the header image by accident (which is right behind the menu), you’ll be redirected to the home page since the header image links to the home page by default. Unfortunately, there isn’t an easy solution for this other as it just takes precision with the taps.
One potential solution would be to switch to a theme like Twenty Eleven:

In that theme, the menu comes beneath the header image. That appears to make it easier to avoid accidentally hitting the header image. Can you try visiting the URL above from your iPad and using the “A Parent Page” menu item (since that has a submenu)? Let me know your thoughts as to whether it seems easier to use. I’m happy to help you make the transition if you want!

G’day Jeremy,
many thanks for the response and yes–I think the twenty eleven theme will be a much better match, and if you could give me a hand in switching over, you’d be doing a great thing for ecology!
cheers

Hey Dave,
Sounds great! It looks like you’ve been successful in switching over themes. Is there a particular feature you’re having trouble with?
