  My website has been showing under maintenance since yesterday. What to do

  To make it public:

  • Go to Settings → Reading
  • Click on Launch Website

  If your website has been showing “Under Maintenance” since yesterday, it’s likely due to an incomplete update or a stuck maintenance mode.

  How to fix it:

  1. Wait a few minutes – Sometimes updates take longer, but since it’s been a day, move to the next steps.
  2. Check for a .maintenance file – If you have FTP or file access, look for a file named .maintenance in your site’s root directory and delete it.
  3. Clear browser cache – Old cached pages may still show maintenance.
  4. Deactivate plugins temporarily – A plugin conflict can cause maintenance mode to get stuck.
  5. Re-run the update – If the issue happened during a theme or plugin update, try updating again.

  @workflowsitedeveloper Note that this isn’t the “WordPress Community” as such but the support forum for free sites hosted at WordPress.com. There is a big difference between the wordpress software and the version used by sites hosted here and most of your replies in this forum would be far more applicable to sites NOT hosted here.
