Mine has as well. I have two websites – the one I am currently logged in under (curioushorse, which is fine) and the other http://www.taichicaledonia.com, which is the one that has disappeared. When I try and access the site it gives a blank screen and when I log into wordpress to edit it I have the same problem, a blank screen.

It looks like http://www.taichicaledonia.com/ isn’t hosted on WordPress.com, and is instead a self-hosted site. This means that you can make use of the excellent support over at https://wordpress.org/support/ for self-hosted sites.
I couldn’t resist a quick Google, and it looks like your site is hosted by iomart. Does this sound familiar? If so, it might be worth pinging a message over to them via https://www.iomart.com/contact/

Just for your info, iomart fdoes not accept any gmail or btinternet addresses on their contact form

The problem I now have is that I did not create this site and so have only admin access which means that I cannot get in to attempt the suggestions in the support forums. The originator has passed away and I am now running the annual event for which this is the website.
We were planning on revamping the site anyway so perhaps it would be easier for us to just create a new one from scratch? But this would raise the question of how would we link the name http://www.taichicaledonia.com to the new site as it is weel known and has been used for years now?

This does sound like an unfortunate situation. Hopefully I can be of some help.
I am sorry to hear that the originator has passed away. It is a complex process, but usually possible to transfer ownership of the site to another account by notifying the host that the user is deceased and by involving the estate reciever. Iomart will be able to help you more with that. Sorry to hear that their contact form is being tricksy. Have a go at contacting them using this email address instead: (email visible only to moderators and staff)
If you were able to gain ownership of the account then it would be possible to link your existing domain by signing up to a paid for WordPress.com plan, which enables you to map your domain. Have a look through the instructions here https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/ to see if it would suit you.
This website http://whois.domaintools.com/taichicaledonia.com details information about http://www.taichicaledonia.com/. Note that the expiry date of the domain name is 2020-10-01. After that, the domain name will become available again. However, I gather that you’d rather get going sooner because of the annual event.
Nevertheless, with your current limited admin access it might be easier to start afresh with a new domain name.

Annnd just a quick note to amend my rookie error. I should have known the email address would be redacted. There seems to be a few different ways to get in touch with iomart on their website including a phone number and live chat button.
