My Website has Disappeared

  • Unknown's avatar

I typed in the URL for my website today (vivieconomics.com) and I discovered the website was down and giving an error message, ‘Error establishing a database connection’.

When I typed in vivieconomics.com/wp-login.php, I received the same error message: ‘Error establishing a database connection’

When I came to the official WordPress site and tried to log in to my account on wordpress.com, it said my account didn’t exist. It made this account with the same email ((email visible only to moderators and staff)).

When I tried to submit a form to customer support, it would not let me, because it said the URL I was using did not exist.

What is happening? Where is my website? What do I do now?

    Self-declared URL: vivieconomics.com
    Jetpack: Unknown
    WP.com: Unknown

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

We can’t help as your site isn’t running on the wordpress.com platform. You must contact your hosting to know what’s going one or wrong …

That’s what I’m trying to explain, it WAS running on the wordpress.com platform. I did not have a separate host. Suddenly, WordPress is saying my site never existed.

  • Hi there,

vivieconomics.com is not hosted here at WordPress.com, but rather with Go Daddy. I checked and the site has never been hosted with us here at WordPress.com. I would recommend contacting Go Daddy, as they would be able to assist you in regaining access to the back end of your site:

To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities, but the essential difference is that we don’t have access to all WordPress sites, only ones hosted on our WordPress.com servers. For more information, please see:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any questions.

    Thanks!
