My website has gone back to default?

  • Unknown's avatar

Yesterday I started a new site and did some work on the design of it, adding a lot of pages to the menues mostly.

Today it seems like the site has turned back to default for some mysterious reason. All pages uncept two are gone. And under the headtitle now stands “The greatest WordPress.com site in all the land!” though I deleted the whole text yesterday.
Also, under “Manage my blogs” appear two of the exactly same sites?

The problem started after visiting my site today and trying to add a new page. After that page were created, the rest were gone?

I’m 99,9% sure no one has hacked me.

I will be grateful for some support in this matter. I don’t feel confident to continue using WordPress if it happens to delete ones content all of a sudden.. Damn it!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there – Let’s see if we can figure out what happened. I notice that you have three different blogs, and all three have the same title, theme, and mostly the same content:
    http://runethingvad.wordpress.com/
    http://designfortrivsel.wordpress.com/
    http://designfortrivsel.wordpress.com/

If you go to Pages->All Pages of each of those sites, you’ll see any pages that you’ve published; for example:
    https://runethingvad.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=page
    https://designfortrivsel.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=page
    https://designfortrivsel.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=page

Is your missing content at one of those links?

If so, if you’re new to WordPress.com, I recommend first going through our new user’s guide here:
    http://learn.wordpress.com/

It’s a big help with getting started!

Then, it looks like you’re wanting to set up more of a website-style site than a blog-format. We have some tips on how to get started with that here:
Using WordPress.com to Create a Website

Finally, you’ll want to create a custom menu to organize your pages. We have a step-by-step guide on how to do that here:
    Custom Menus

That should get you started. Let me know if you get stuck at any point, or have further questions and I will be happy to help you out!

The missing pages came back, but only shortly and then dissapeared again? And “Manage my blogs” still shows two of the same website (designfortrivsel.wordpress.com) ? Maybe I should delete them..

Anyway, I will follow your advice and read the guides you mention and take it from there.

Thank you for your support :)

  • Hi there – I’m sorry, I don’t know how I missed that two of those blogs have the same URL. One of them should not be there. This is something our developers are looking into right now and I’ll let you know as soon as I have more information about it.

However your pages shouldn’t go missing, that’s something else. Can you describe a bit more what the pages were that you can no longer find?

    Sorry for my late response.

Luckily they were just empty pages, created to play with the menues and how to organise the site. I would just be sad if it happens again, especially as I get further..

I hope they will figure out the problems..

    Merry Christmas! :)

  • If you notice any content missing in future, let me know! I’ll let you know as soon as we figure out why the duplicate site was created. :)
