    Thank you for the advice.

Actually, I still don’t understand the system. Our website has been having problems for few days. At first, it was down. I found out that our domain was expired then I renewed it. But the website was still down.

I tried to fix the problem then I found some sources mentioned about disconnected the plugins. So I accidentally disconnected Jetpack which made I lost my whole site.

I really confused. I keep looking for the solutions. One said contact Jetpack; one said contact WordPress; and one said contact the domain host. This is so hard to understand. My domain is hosted by 3rd party on WordPress but I lost my website by disconnected Jetpack. I don’t really know who I should contact and how.

    I feel so hopeless.

  • Hi there!

The site hannaconsultant.com is not registered or hosted with WordPress.com. It sounds that you were using Jetpack to connect it to your WordPress.com account to manage it from here. Once the Jetpack connection is severed, you can’t access your site from the WordPress.com account. However, it does not affect the site itself. You should still be able to access it from hannaconsultant.com/wp-admin.
If that is not possible because some of your subscriptions expired, you will need to contact your host or registrar, depending on what needs to be renewed.

To reconnect Jetpack, you will want to follow these steps:

    Jetpack

If you need more help, you can ask at https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack/.

Also, I noticed you opened another thread where you asked why you need to purchase plan Business to install Jetpack. You only saw this prompt to upgrade because you tried to install a plugin on the free WordPress.com site hannaconsultant.wordpress.com. That is entirely independent of the site you’re trying to access.

I hope I made things a little more clear. Let me know if you still have any doubts.

Thank you. staff-mckluskey But the problem is I cannot login via WP admin as well. To be honest, I am not used to with this kind of things. Actually, I don’t really know how our company website was link with wordpress as well. I sent the email to our domain host but I might need to wait for their reply until Monday. I kinda feel stressful because I was the one who disconnected Jetpack and lost control of our website. Last night I tried to reconnect Jetpack with the steps in the link but it looked different from what I saw in the link. I searched for many methods but I have seen that what I experience seems to be different from those steps. I feel like it wasn’t right.

  • the problem is I cannot login via WP admin as well

That tells me there might be an issue with your hosting.
As I said, Jetpack only connected your site to the WordPress.com account. Even if you haven’t disconnected it, it wouldn’t work if your site is unavailable. I’d suggest waiting for a reply from your host. In the meantime, you can try posting on https://wordpress.org/support/forums/. Folks there have more experience with sites like yours, they may be able to suggest another solution.

staff-mckluskey Can I ask one more thing? You mentioned that I was asked to purchase the plan because I tried to connect Jetpack with the free wordpress site. But I also tried to link my domain to wordpress and it also asked me to purchase the plan. I saw this article said it is free, so I confused. I am not sure that because the information was old or maybe because this is not our first time connecting it. If there is no way else but to pay, I will tell my boss to pay. I just need to be sure that it is the right thing to do.

Also I tried to delete hannaconsultant.wordpress.com but I cannot find the delete option. I searched and tried all the method but again. What showed on my site is different from what I found on the articles. I just don’t understand what is going.

  • Let me stress again that WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two completely independent entities. The site you created here, on WordPress.com, has nothing to do with hannaconsultant.com, and will also work in a different way, as it’s using another platform.

I also tried to link my domain to wordpress and it also asked me to purchase the plan. I saw this article said it is free, so I confused.

Connecting a domain to a WordPress.com site would mean that your personalized domain will redirect to your WordPress.com site – not the site you’re trying to access. You’d also need a paid plan to connect your domain. It’s free with any of those plans.

Since your site is hosted elsewhere, upgrading the WordPress.com site will not help you recover your site – it will only allow you to work on hannaconsultant.wordpress.com with the domain hannaconsultant.com. Does that make sense?

I tried to delete hannaconsultant.wordpress.com but I cannot find the delete option.

    Here’s how to delete it:

I tried following the delete instructions but I didn’t see the delete option when I clicked Settings > General. It only asked me about: site title, tagline, timezone, date format, time format, week starts on, and language. I didn’t see any options like in the article.

    staff-mckluskey

You’d also need a paid plan to connect your domain. It’s free with any of those plans.

I confused with this as well. Because our domain was connected with wordpress before that means we may have paid it. But after I disconnect Jetpack and tried to reconnect the domain, it asked me to purchase. Did the plan disappear after disconnecting?

Sorry I really don’t understand about this. I just tried to confirm all the information before asking my boss to pay for our company website matter again.

  • Let me try to break it down.

Your site hannaconsultant.com is hosted with Voyager: https://voyager.nz/business/hosting. Your domain, on the other hand, is registered with Enom.
You were not paying WordPress.com for any of our services.

You were only using the Jetpack plugin to connect your site to your WordPress.com account. Connect in this case means you were able to edit your site when logged into your WordPress.com account, without the need to go to hannaconsultant.com/wp-admin.

You need to solve whatever underlying issue is on your site first to be able to reconnect it to your WordPress.com account. For that, contact your host or post to https://wordpress.org/support/forums/.

Purchasing any of WordPress.com’s paid upgrades will not bring your site back – it’s not hosted on our servers.

I tried following the delete instructions, but I didn’t see the delete option when I clicked Settings > General.

Ah, sorry for that. Try going to ToolsªDelete site instead. Here’s a direct link: https://hannaconsultant.wordpress.com/wp-admin/tools.php?page=delete-blog.
