  So I can still use wordpress to edit my website, but It just is not hosted with WordPress right?

  Yes in WordPress.org you can download and install the free WordPress software, no matter where it is hosted while in WordPress.com you don’t need to download software or manage your hosting. Everything is taken care of by WordPress.com.
