My website is not working

My website is not working. I’m having a hard time logging in to my WordPress account and I need help ASAP.

    I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

  • I don’t see any WordPress.com sites under your account here.

What is the URL of the site with the problem?

NOTE: We can only assist with websites hosted here at WordPress.com. If you’re using the WordPress software, but hosted elsewhere, you will need to reach out to your hosting provider or the WordPress.org community for guidance: https://wordpress.org/support/

The URL of the site with the problem is: skintech-spa.com

  • That is a self-hosted WordPress.org site, hosted with GoDaddy, which we can’t help with here.

To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/

WordPress.org has complete documentation for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress.org at https://wordpress.org/support/ and support at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

Your hosting provider’s support may be able to assist too: https://www.godaddy.com/help

How can I know who is Hosting this domain?
because the host is no Godaddy, but the domain is in Godaddy.

I used WordPress to build my Web and I Hired someone to do it for me, Now I can’t have any access to the website or to the admin portal.
    This is my business website.

  • Hm, according to https://digital.com/best-web-hosting/who-is/#search=skintech-spa.com your hosting provider is GoDaddy.

If that’s not accurate, your hosting provider is whomever you’re paying monthly or yearly to host it.

If it was the person you hired, and they have disappeared, then your next best option is to contact GoDaddy’s support: https://www.godaddy.com/help

Unfortunately, they told me that best for me is to contact Wrodpress becouse my site was build there.

  • Hi there,

Your site is built using the open source WordPress software. That software is made by the community on WordPress.org, but they have no control over your server, and no access to your site’s database where your login details are stored.

The forum you’re posting in now is for WordPress.com. We’re not the same thing as the WordPress software you’re using. We’re a hosting provider, like GoDaddy, and your site isn’t hosted on our servers, so we also have no control over it and no access to the database.

Your installation of the WordPress software is hosted on GoDaddy’s servers, so they have complete control over your site, and have access to the database, making them the only people who could possibly help you with this.

But if you don’t own the hosting account under which the site is hosted, they won’t help you. In that case only the person who built the site, and who controls the hosting account, can give you access.

From our end, I’m afraid there’s nothing we can do in this case.

Hi! Thank you for the information!

You helped me better understand. the problem is: I hired someone to build my website, and I don’t know which hosting they use.

Is there any way for me to know where the website is hosted?
(It is not Godaddy. I have an account with them and am not paying for hosting for this web. Also, they stated that).

    Thanks again!

What we rely on to “know” where a site is hosted is what the domain nameservers are set to currently, which is publicly available information. According to that information, the nameservers are using GoDaddy nameservers (ns49.domaincontrol.com and ns50.domaincontrol.com).

If the site was not hosted at GoDaddy, whomever owns the domain switched those nameservers to point to GoDaddy.

Regardless, we have no insight or ability to inform you where your site is hosted other than what information is publicly available (and linked to above so you can see for yourself).

You would need to reach out to the person who you hired to build your site to get the information you need.

    I hope that clarifies things.
