  I was trying to reproduce your problem on a test site but have been unsuccessful so far. Can you check if you see the duplicate post when editing your home page? or if the same problem appears when using the Full Site Editor.

  I found this response by @musicdoc1 about a similar issue here, hopefully, his instructions help you fix the problem.

  This seems to be an issue with sticky posts and the Twenty-sixteen theme, or the Chateau theme as described in this thread so I’m not sure if it would apply to the Zoologist theme.
