My website refuses to allow me to write two lines on top of each other.

It always double spaces. I want my lines
to be like they are right now with these words
but every time I try this…

It allows two spaces. It’s a conversation it doesn’t need two spaces.

If I want two spaces between each line I would click

the space bar. (LIKE i AM DOING NOW)

I know the people who help answer questions are volunteers but you never allow them to answer the real questions like why you insist on not allowing us to keep the classic option when the block option is horrible. Every day someone is complaining about this and we always get ignored.

    Thank you

    3 X 10 : A Ghost Along the Mississippi

When I typed the text it looked fine but as soon as I saved it I came back and it looked like it does here. Towards the bottom. This is ridiculous. the words scattered themselves. It’s supposed to look like a transcript of the words said.

Who do I have to beg for you people to actually help me? This shouldn’t be happening. This is clearly a glitch in your system because there is no way it should change the text to look like this.

  • Hi there,

It always double spaces. I want my lines
to be like they are right now with these words

If you hold down your “shift” key at the same time as you hit the “enter” key, instead of jumping two lines you will get single line spacing.

You can see in this video here: https://d.pr/v/562u3e

The “shift+enter” trick to get a single line will work in our newer block editor, as well as our “classic block” which is a way to get the old editor inside of the newer one. Does it work for you if you try?

    @nicklausandcamille,

I know the people who help answer questions are volunteers but you never allow them to answer the real questions like why you insist on not allowing us to keep the classic option when the block option is horrible. Every day someone is complaining about this and we always get ignored.

Some of the people that answer questions in the forums are volunteers and some are staff. Volunteers, such as myself, have not been prevented from providing a reason for “why you insist on not allowing us to keep the classic option when the block option is horrible.” If you mean why doesn’t WordPress.com allow the classic editor to be the default editor, volunteers haven’t answered that question because we don’t know why.

The WP-Admin editor (which now being referred to as the “Classic Editor”) is still available to all members. It can be accessed as described and illustrated here: https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/block-vs-classic/page/3/#post-3575873.
