My Website was Hacked

  I recently tried to log into my wordpress website (wp-admin) but it sent me to a Japanese page and was told (from wordpress support) that it was expired and registered from another site & that’s when I realized that I was hacked. I tried calling the Services (HostGator) that supposedly has my website and asked me to submit my basic info through email, showing them the receipt, contract and ID that I payed for my website which I did but then started asking for other personal info which raised some red flags to me & thought it was to much…

  I talked to three different people in the last week or so through their service to get this issue resolved but I feel like I’m running in circles & feel violated that someone hacked my website that I started two years ago & put the work in to create. I just want my website back and want someone who can help who knows what to do cause I’m lost & don’t want to give up

  As already said in your previous thread – https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/i-need-help-logging-into-my-back-page-wp-admin-site/ – we can’t help you as your site isn’t running on the wordpress.com platform.

  When you let a domain expire you are literally saying you don’t need that domain anymore. After a several weeks the domain is released for anyone who want to buy it. If you nor your hosting have a proper backup, it’s game over. You have no legal ground to claim that domain as you let it expire. This has nothing to do with hacking.

  Can you access you cpanel? if you can then you can find hacked files and remove it.. i also go through this problem with my 2 sites..

  @starrtmees First off I didn’t let my domain expire cause I was always on my site…second I do have a backup… Third Why even comment at all since YOU said that YOU couldn’t even help or do anything even though it’s your job so again this is for someone who actually knows what to do!

  @hkdhvanidixit2021 I’ve honestly never used cpanel or know how to get on. I’m not really Tec savvy in certain areas

  @danadevaughn as a staff member already stated in your first thread – https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/i-need-help-logging-into-my-back-page-wp-admin-site/#post-3808374 -: nobody over here at wordpress.com can help you as your site isn’t running on the wordpress.com platform. You must contact your hosting aka Hostgator to solve this problem.
