My whole article and 2 pics disappeared from the edit!

This is really frustrating. Just finished writing it – happy – inserted some photos. Hit Preview again and EVERYTHING is gone. No draft, nothing. Tried backtracking to find it through browser history – the edit page appears but it’s blank.
Also was having trouble with previewing themes because I don’t care for the finished look of the original one I chose. Neither the Preview nor the Activate would show a sample of my (at that point) page so that I could not judge appearance.
I’ll be damned if I’m going to try and remember 300 words of article at 2 in the morning. Thinking seriously about going back to Blogger at this point.

This is not the problem with wordpress. This can happen with blogger too. Sometimes this happens due to the unstable versions of browsers. It doesn’t seem that you can get that article back. I many a time lost articles of 500-700 words. But you can get images from media library. Media > Library. WordPress works best with Chrome and Firefox.
Go contact staff to learn more about it. If they’ve anything to do about it or they’ve to fix something.

If you’re in the habit of writing 300 words in a text document without saving from time to time, then WP is not to blame when you do that for a post as well. As hnsaifi pointed out, a momentary browser or connection glitch may destroy your work. Safer method while creating a post: write a couple of words, set the Visibility to private, click Update, continue writing. That way the auto-save kicks in and you can always revert to a previously saved version if something goes wrong.
