my widgets show up on dashboard but not on blog

    I need help. I am trying to put the “recent post widget” and “calendar” on my blog. it is there on my dashboard but it is not showing up on the blog. I am not understanding the visibility comments that were made on the help page/widget page. HOW do I get the widgets to appear on my blog?
