My wordpress name is suddenly "No longer available".
-
Something happened to my sitename and I have no idea what or how to retrieve it?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
It looks like the site http://clm6.wordpress.com/ was deleted, but you still have content onhttp://idcdeletethis1.wordpress.com/.
I’m afraid that once a site has been deleted there is nothing anyone can do to retrieve it, and the username can’t be used again.
Sorry to not have happier news.

Here is the Support article about recycling deleted blog urls:

Hey Liz, for some reason that link is always hard for me to find by searching support docs. “recycle” doesn’t work!!! But the rationale explained in the article is well put—IMO it’s a good policy, even though it’s not always welcomed by a user who cannot reuse a blog name…
Domain mapping is one option. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/
Also, creative options with numbers or using numbers instead of letters. That’s why I am “1tess” and not “tess” LOL

Hi Liz,
Not all the volunteers do, but I like to add relevant links to the tags on the forum sidebar. Many tags folks add are vague, like “help” or “wordpress” or “blog” but some can be useful. For example, if it’s a theme related question, then adding the name of the theme is useful for folks who read these forums for info. Another useful one used often in “increasing traffic” “attracting readers” and so on. ≥^!^≤ -

@timethief,
Ah! great I’ll add that as well to the tags as well. I do wish the tags were a bit more “fuzzy” in these forums… -

@lizz, I’m not sure what the official staff policy about tags on the forums is, but they are an available option. We are encouraged to use appropriate tags on our own blogs, and as a volunteer I have found them useful. It can’t really hurt, and it’s possibly helpful. I’ve occasionally given links to tags to forum users… Best wishes to you!
