my wordpress screen is appearing weird.

@wickedbusymomto3, the files are most likely being blocked by a firewall or network restrictions. Does it happen in all browsers for you?
-
Yes, I’ve tried firefox, even the newest one that just updated today when I turned on my computer, IE, and safari.
It happens when I view any wordpress.com blog – they all line up weird, just the pages. So frustrating, especially when I don’t speak the codes and such.
Thanks -
When I run Safari and click on the the first link, I get this error message:
safari can’t open the page.
Safari can’t open the page “http://s1.wordpress.com/wp-admin/wp-admin.css?m=1239043652b”. The error is: “unknown error” (kCFErrorDomainWinSock:10054) Please choose Help > Report Bugs to Apple, note the error number, and describe what you did before you saw this message. When I run IE, I get that it cannot display the webpage and it has a diagnostic thing you can run, it brought up nothing. All the ideas it suggests, I’ve tried.
What gets me is how all was well then all of a sudden I can’t view it correctly. I don’t know what I did to the computer to change things….
thank you for any help.

Still only partial joy in Mudville for me. While the majority of the weirdness has cleared up, my Dashboard still only partially loads, usually the Admin Bar and bottom of the page go missing. (sigh)
I’ve also uninstalled FF, including my profile, and reinstalled.
Support was requested.

I am delighted to announce that my problems are over! I unplugged my router to reset my cable line, restarted the ‘puter, and voila! Blog is back to normal.
Thanks all for the tips and ideas, and PATIENCE!

I have exactly the same problem as wickedbusymomto3 – we have tried everything, including unplugging router and rebooting etc etc. Tried on IE, Firefox, Safari and Google Chrome – just wordpress blogs are affected. Everything else is fine. http://teagantimes.wordpress.com/
Can anyone suggest anything else to try? -

I haven’t updated blogs for over a week and I now find that two of them are posting the post with a large silly typeface. I have deleted one as it was preposterous and left the other for the time being but still need a solution. Has something happened since April 30th? I use Safari btw.
It doesn’t look write in the dashboard place where I write them, so that sounds similar to those comments above. Would really appreciate some help! Thanks.

Just tried logging in today to put in a link to my new Blogger blog and, guess what, it works. Totally weird. We’ve done nothing at all, not uploaded or downloaded or changed or deleted or upgraded or anything else. All back to normal. Really irritating.. do i stick with wordpress or carry on with blogger..

For those thinking about switching to bugger (excuse me, blogger), I bring your attention to my test blog over there that has one single post, and no changes to the CSS or HTML. It is right out of the box at http://opposablethumbz.blogspot.com/ .
I ran it through the W3C XHTML validator and it reports 368 errors and 85 warnings, and all I did was sign up and put up one single post. Apparently Bugger thinks little of web standards compliance. Think of them as the Microsoft of blogging platforms.

/kof – to be fair, tsp, we’ve had our share too, so I wouldn’t be basing a decision on compliance to web standards, just sayin’…
While my Dashboard isn’t entirely back to normal, it is much improved. The javascript still seems to be choking occasionally on something, but at this point, since it’s happening on both FF 3.0.10 and IE7, heavenonlyknows what the problem is and I’m not going to worry about it any longer at this point. It seems to have started when WordPress.com started to implement the 2.8 code.

WordPress should include this in some advertisement or something. Its very convincing and I am definitely happy to be at wordpress.

No need to eat crow. To be fair, if I had done the test about a month ago, the wordpress numbers would have been worse I suspect. I almost think they might have been scanning all blogs and correcting HTML errors since some blogs that I know had huge amounts of errors (250+) are now all under 100. It now seems difficult to find a wordpress.COM blog with more than 100, and the bulk seem to be under 50. What was interesting was of the 20 I checked randomly on .COM, 10 were error free. I just have not seen that in the past.
I had sent in an email to support back when they started the automatic stripping of MS Word code, and I got the feeling from the reply that they are taking compliance far more seriously than before and trying to get things set up so that many of the errors could not happen in the first place.
