My wordpress traffic stats stopped!

  • Unknown's avatar

    HI, everyone.

My page views have been stuck at one number since about 9:15 am..even though I’m getting loads of hits via being in the foodbuzz top 9 today. I checked FeedJit and the hits are coming every few seconds, but no change in my WordPress stats..still stuck on the same numbers. Any idea why this is happening?

    Thank you,
    Lisa

I’m having the same problem at 101 Books.

Bumped because it’s still stuck after an hour..it hasn’t recorded about 150 hits I’ve gotten, plus..all the other stats have halted.

  • Unknown's avatar

It still keeps stopping and starting..I’ve lost a ton of page views. I wish someone would just let me know what’s happening and if I’m going to get my lost hits back??

You need to be patient and wait for someone who can help, to answer you. The usual people who answer here are in different time zones.

  • Unknown's avatar

Isn’t this an issue that WP support employees, like timethief, would only know the answer to? Do you know of a way I can contact WP support via email? That option seems to have disappeared.

  • Unknown's avatar

I already told you to wait for someone who can answer you. If you want timethief to answer, you will have to wait for her to appear. She is not a WP employee, but she will help you, and if she can’t, then she will tag the thread for staff to answer. There are others waiting too, so please don’t keep bumping the thread. By the way, hits every few seconds doesn’t sound like ‘real’ hits. It sounds like crawlers, or spiders.

  • Unknown's avatar

I wasn’t bumping the thread..I was replying to you. When I bumped it – I said I bumped it. That said..I have no idea what you mean by crawlers or spiders. Al post of mine is featured on a high traffic food site today and the hits were (and are) coming fast while my page views stayed the same for an hour and they continue to stop for long blocks of time while the hits keep coming, and I never get those hits back when it starts up again. I was featured on this site once before and received more hits than I ever have..and all were showing in my stats.

You don’t have to reply because I’m not adding anything else to this thread..unless I hear nothing for days and the issue continues.

Now you are just cutting off your nose to spite your face. I can’t make timethief appear for you, and people can only help if they actually know the answer.

If your blog is on one of those sites that just rotates numerous blogs every few seconds then they are not genuine hits, and will not show in your stats. The stats will only record a hit if someone actually clicks on a link to your blog.

  • Unknown's avatar

There is a link being clicked on..below..,

    http://www.foodbuzz.com/top9

This is where 95% of the hits were/are coming from.

It is rare to get featured in Top 9, but when you do you get tons of hits, and you don’t want to lose them. My blog gets average to below average traffic, so opportunities like this are a treat.

  • Unknown's avatar

I can’t see your blog on there. Which one is yours and i’ll click on it, and you can see if it registers.

  • Unknown's avatar

Because I changed the name of my blog slightly, but Foodbuzz still has it as Parsley, Sage, Desserts and Line Drives. It’s the pizza ..#7 lower left hand corner.

The hits are working now..so it should register. But this morning, when people woke up and the hits were coming at warp speed, my page views froze for an hour – stayed at 396..and did not record those hits when it started up again.

  • Unknown's avatar

I’ll give it a go. I’ll show up as Wales on feedjit.

  • Unknown's avatar

Okie doke, but as I mentioned – it will record now because it’s working again. It’s been starting and stopping all day. :(

    Please be descriptve.
Exactly what happens when you click these links
    http://wordpress.com/#!/my-stats/
    http://lisamichele.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=stats
How are you connecting to the internet and to WordPress.com?
The way you connect to the internet (mobile, satellite, DSL, dial-up) and to your blog, and how many proxy server jumps etc. it takes to connect can cause problems. There maybe be problems with your ISP and/or with the proxy servers. Also note that the main dashboard isn’t designed to work with touch devices through the tablet and smartphone browsers.
Exactly which browser and version of it are you using please?
If you don’t know click here to find out > http://whatsmyuseragent.com/

P.S. WordPress.com does not record hits from bots or from from browsers that do not execute javascript or load images but feedjit does.

OK i clicked on it, and it doesn’t lead to your blog. The post is on that site.

  • Unknown's avatar

    @thegiddygoat
You are correct. The post snippet on the foodbuzz site is getting the hits and those who hit it there do not neccesarily choose to click through to original post on the blog.

The questions I asked ave are focused on finding out if lisamichele has a technical issue with her WordPress.com stats or not.

  • Unknown's avatar

When I click on both links I get my stats page..one from within my blog dashboard..and one with the list of countries viewing my site.

I’m using Google Chrome version 20.0.1132.57 m, but I also tested it in IE Explorer 8, and it was still frozen at 396 while the hits from Foodbuzz were coming every 30 seconds to a minute and it would not budge from 396. When it started up again, it increased from 396,,meaning all of those hits were lost. Like I said, it still continues to stop for a block of time. Righyt now working..but it probably will stop again. I estimate I lost about 200 or more page views.

I use Optimum Online to connect to the internet. This has never happened before..ever. I once had a post go viral on Stumble Upon and every hit was recorded.
