my wordpress version isnt updating

Hi,
Im trying to create a website, although it says my version isn’t up to date. it says ‘An updated version of WordPress is available.
You cannot update because WordPress 5.4.2 requires PHP version 5.6.20 or higher. You are running version 5.4.45.’
I am wondering how I am supposed to fix this -

You’re talking about a self-hosted version of WordPress – we can’t help with that here.
Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so we can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers.
