My WP blog link being redirected to unknown website

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, I created a free WP website and use a block (button Book this Tour on Tripadvisor) to link to my product on another website. The link worked for some time, but now it redirects to some other page, which is unknown to me. Here is the webpage where it is being redirected: https://members.cj.com/member/404.html

Can you help me understand what is going on? Did someone hack my link and installed malware? I ran my website URL on a free malware detection website, but it shows that everything is fine. Please help.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi @niagaratours1, can you confirm whether you’re having this trouble with https://tourniagara.wordpress.com/ ? That site is loading consistently for me.

Also, these forums are for the sites managed here, vs. sites using WordPress code with another host. If you’re working with a site that isn’t hosted here, this guide for dealing with hacked sites may help.

Hi, yes this website https://tourniagara.wordpress.com/ is where I had trouble with the link redirecting elsewhere. I was not sure if I would get help, so I went ahead and replaced the bad link with a QR code. But for the sake of an experiment, I have now added the link back (green button “Book this tour on Tripadvisor” before the picture gallery). And I get the same problem with this link redirecting to members.cj.com . Why?

…I checked again, and the link is redirecting to https://members.cj.com/member/404.html

And yes, my website is hosted by WordPress.

    Thank you for your help.

    Hi there!

If that’s not the link you inserted, it could be an issue with the browser you’re using. Could you try inserting the link/button again (you can insert it below the QR code) and try visiting it using a different browser to test? Please let us know if it’s still redirecting you to the other link. We will need to have the link live on the site so that we can test it on our end as well.

    Thanks!

Hello and thank you for trying to help. I have inserted the link/button (book this Tour on Tripadvisoe) after the QR code. I also used both Chrome and MS Edge browsers to check it. The first time the link worked as intended. But after a while it redirects to this page below:

    https://members.cj.com/member/404.html

instead of where it is supposed to link, as below:

    Hi there!

Thanks! So I’ve clicked the link, and I’m not redirected to the cj.com link. Also, as you mention that the redirection happens ‘after a while,’ it indicates there are no issues on the actual site. Your homepage/button has the correct link, and it goes to the intended destination. What happens after that link is loaded is not influenced by anything on your site.

In other words, the link in the button is working.

However, I’m not redirected even after a while. I visited your site, clicked the link, landed on the Tripadvisor site, and it stayed there. Since you’re getting redirected, I assume this is caused by something on your computer. Do you have any extensions that are installed on both of your browsers? Or perhaps there could be malware on your computer that’s doing the redirection.

Do you have another device (another computer, mobile, or tablet) where you could try this on to see what happens?
