MYSITE.wordpress.com subdomains are no longer available?
-
I already have an existing free site named MYSITE.wordpress.com , made a few years ago, now I want to make another one, but it looks like only MYSITE.home.blog are offered for free now.
Is this correct?
When did they stop offering MYSITE.wordpress.com ?

Hi,
but it looks like only MYSITE.home.blog are offered for free now.
Is this correct?
No, we still offer WordPress.com addresses, though if you clicked an ad or link for home.blog you’ll likely see that instead. Also, if theaddressyouwant.wordpress.com is taken, we’ll offer the home.blog version instead.
So here’s what I’d recommend: use an incognito window to visit theaddressyouwant.wordpress.com . If it says you can create that site, go ahead and do so, being sure to log in with your 228orchard account.

I have just tried as you said:
– incognito mode
– visit whatiwant.wordpress.com
– it’s a page offering to let me have whatiwant.wordpress.com,
– I click the “Do you want to register 34t5436t.wordpress.com?” link, URL is: : ” https://wordpress.com/start?ref=typo&new=34t5436t ”
– but I am taken to the same page that offers many endings, none of which are “wordpress.com”. Screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/6qOy6So -
Hi 228orchard,
Thanks for trying those steps. I think I’ve worked out what is happening here. Under certain conditions, we are offering free .blog subdomains as an alternative to the standard .wordpress.com subdomains — this is why you aren’t seeing the option to select an address containing
.wordpress.com.I also tested this through my own account and a
.wordpress.comsubdomain wasn’t available, only.home.blog.
