Mysterious broken links – can anyone help?
-
For a while now my blog hasn’t been getting indexed by Google, although the rest of my site indexes fine. After some investigation I discovered that I have some ‘broken’ links by using a broken link checker. I found this odd as when I click on the ‘broken links’ I don’t get any 404 messages and everything seems fine. My knowledge is patchy around this so forgive me.
My question is how do I fix these links? And why/how are they broken if the pages display fine when I click on them?
I’m stumped as to where to begin (and that’s after some exhaustive Googling!)
The broken links are;
http://thackeraycopywriting.com/category/blog/
http://thackeraycopywriting.com/2013/10/01/innovation-in-web-design-what-is-a-copywriters-role/
Plus a few more – basically all of my blog entries or anything pertaining to my blog is ‘broken’ and the checker says they get a 404 response from the server. Even though when I navigate to them all seems well!
Very confused.

That’s what I mean, but Google not indexing them (at all) prompted me to check, and every link checker I’ve used returns the above back as ‘broken links’!
If I type in “thackeray copywriting” into Google, I’m there. Authorship markup and all. But none of my blog posts are searchable or indexed whatsoever. I asked someone else about it and they were like “it’s obvious, your links are broken!” but that’s all they told me! So I’m now trying to figure the problem out…

Check your privacy settings to see if you have “Discourage search engines from indexing this site” set.

Thanks for the reply. I checked that and my settings are definitely set to “allow search engines to index this site”.
As I mentioned, my site indexes absolutely fine – it’s just the blog posts. Very strange…

I do notice that when I search for the text of your articles it appears that it has been published on a lot of other sites.
I don’t know if this has anything to do with it. I also note that it isn’t just google; yahoo only finds the text on other sites also. I’m not really sure what’s happening so I will flag this for staff attention in case they can shed some light on this.

That would be very helpful, thank you. Yes, I have posted the articles on Tumblr and a few other sites also but I really want to get my site fixed so that my blog indexes and helps me rank.
I’m wondering if my theme has anything to do with it (soundcheck) or the fact that I have a static homepage?
All help much appreciated!
