Mysterious charges on account

  A few weeks ago, I received an £11 charge for domain mapping for blog.mediaplay.org.uk on my PayPal account (transaction ID was [redacted by staff]), I have cancelled the transaction to make sure I do not incur any further charges but I just wondered if this was in error since I was not expecting this charge and,, as far as I am concerned, cancelled all paid services months ago

  Hi there,

  Please don’t post sensitive information like transaction IDs in the public forums, as anyone can use that information to gain access to your WordPress.com account.

  That domain mapping upgrade was added to your site, metaltango.wordpress.com (owned by a different account) on 30 April last year along with a Personal Plan which you later upgraded to Premium.

  On 28 May you cancelled the plan, but you kept the domain mapping upgrade, so the payment on 31 March is for the annual renewal of that upgrade. From what I can see that renewal has not been cancelled, and the payment has not been refunded.

  If you don’t wish to continue using this upgrade, please log into the account that you had used to buy those upgrades, and you can cancel it for a full refund at https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/, and you won’t be charged for it again.

  We sent a notification email to the address connected to that account that this renewal was approaching on 1 March. We also emailed you a receipt on 31 March when the payment was processed. If you didn’t receive those, your email provider might have filtered them as spam.

  Let me know if you run into any difficulty accessing the correct account to cancel this renewal.

  I know I shouldn’t have posted the transaction ID here but I couldn’t find another way of getting in touch with your team. The email address the account in question is registered to is one I no longer use or have access to, so I cancelled the transaction on PayPal and just wonder if you can cancel it your end/

  It doesn’t look like there was any active dispute on PayPal’s end – if you started one, you’ll want to cancel it as I went ahead and canceled the domain mapping and refunded the £11.00 you were charged.

  The account is still active, although there are no subscriptions. If you’d like to close this account, send us an email to passwordhelp@wordpress.com and include the ID transaction for that recent renewal. Our Account Recovery team will get back to you and help you regain access to the account so that you may close it.
