Mysterious grey box

  I’m using the Oxygen theme and just set up my site http://alymcf.wordpress.com/ today. Just above the most recent post is a grey box I want to get rid of. If you mouse over it, it says “read article” in the lower right and when you click that it takes you to the permalink to the post. But the grey box itself looks like a mistake and I’d like to know how to get rid of it.

  You don’t get rid of it, you learn to use it: it’s the placeholder for a featured image.

  If you don’t want to add featured images, you need a more conventional theme.
