Mysterious Number Category Appeared: 746

  I know somebody posted a question about a mysterious number category appearing last week. This happened to me, only the number was “746.” I clicked on the “746” category and found that a number of people had posts under that, but I could not figure out what it was. I deleted the category, but I’m still wondering why it would appear. Any thoughts on this appreciated; thanks.

  This most often happens when you have deleted the default category, “uncategorized,” and failed to set a different default category under “options > writing. Set the default category to one of the ones you have created (you can change this when you write a post). Before deleting the numbered category, make sure there aren’t any posts assigned to it. If there are, unassign it in the edit post window. Then you can delete the category and it should stay gone.
