Mystique Theme Content Options

Hi!
I wanted my blog to show exerpts of posts, but didn’t how to go about it.
I looked here on the Support pages and they said you have to go to: My Sites – Customize -> Content Options.
That’s what I did, but it looks like my theme doesn’t have that because I can’t find Content Options anywhere.
What should I do now?

The Reading Settings page summary setting changes the RSS feed display only and does not impact the posts on the site.

*Replace NAME_OF_BLOG withe the actual name of your blog in that URL.
If you want to display only post excerpts on the front page or the blogs page of the blog followed by read more links, you can insert “the more tag” into each post prior to publication.

The split in the text does not display to you in preview mode but it will be there after the post is published.

re: switching themes
Note that switching themes https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/#switch-themes can be easily done, provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the site. Themes are just “skins” on WordPress.COM hosted blogs.
The theme customizer https://en.support.wordpress.com/customizer/ provides a preview function for exactly that purpose ie. so you can view what a theme will appear like prior to changing one.

Switching my theme is also something I’ve been thinking of. If I do change it, will I lose my current widgets and the overall layout of my blog, or no? I’d hate to have to put everthing back in place again…

The More Tag might also be a good option. That would allow you to specify how much of each post you wanted to display.

Each theme is different – so there will usually be some theme specific settings that you’ll need to put into place. You can learn about what those are for a specific theme by finding it on http://wordpress.com/themes, and then clicking on its thumbnail to view the info page for that theme.
Your content (posts, pages, etc) will not be lost in a theme switch. Some items though, like Widgets or Menus, might need to be put back into place. For example, if you have a bunch of widgets in a sidebar that doesn’t exist, or uses a different name, your site won’t know where they go until you give them a new home :)
If you find any widgets missing after switching themes, check the bottom of this page – it’s in your WP Admin dashboard, and it should display any displaced or inactive widgets.
