I am just wondering how to go about this so I can transfer as much as possible of whats already been done to this new word press version of the site. -
Hello there,
Migrating the content from your self-hosted WordPress site to WordPress.com can be done with the export and import tool.
Here’s a comprehensive support document to guide you through the process: https://en.support.wordpress.com/coming-from-self-hosted/
Self-hosted WordPress sites will usually have more flexibility compared to sites hosted on WordPress.com. The obvious ones would be the ability to upload and install any plugins and themes on self-hosted WordPress sites, on WordPress.com, you need a Business Plan upgrade in order to do that.
So before you get started, I would advise you to check out this document on the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Do let us know if you have further questions, we’ll be glad to help.

Hi livewelllaughoftenandlovemuch,
joanarent.com was created using WordPress.org software and is hosted by SoftLayer. Do you want to continue hosting and working on the site there? Or would you like to move the site to WordPress.com and host it with us?
The documentation staff-zara linked to will help you decide which will the most suitable option:
I’m happy to answer any questions you have.
