  A really basic, beginner’s question:
  I want my blog to be tempestmoon.wordpress.com but get a message ‘sorry but tempestmoon.wordpress.com appears not to be a valid domain name’.
  I had to opt for the name with ‘blog’ added in and this is what appears on my homepage. I can’t see what’s wrong with the original domain name format – very annoying!

  That domain is reserved (by another user)—> https://en.wordpress.com/typo/?subdomain=tempestmoon

  The address tempestmoon.wordpress.com cannot be registered. Sorry, that site is reserved! But you can sign up and choose another one.
