Are you following these instructions:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/verifying-your-domain-with-google/
They should get your site verified.
-
Yes, I used this site, but there is no “name server and DNS” option in my domain area to click on.

Ahhh, my mistake. Those instructions are for sites that have a custom domain. If you are using the ________.wordpress.com URL, you need these discussions:

I appreciate your quick reply, and I followed the instructions carefully. When I pasted the copied meta tag in the google box located in SEO area and clicked save settings, “invalid site verification tag entered” popped up in red.
I did notice that in the box where you paste the meta tag, <meta is already there and I can’t delete it, so when I paste the meta tag, it comes out as <meta<meta name= plus the remainder of the pasted tag. Is this normal? -
Can you paste the code you are trying to use into this thread? Be sure to use the “code” formatting button.

<meta name="google-site-verification" content="3ktIgX9YoMr5yw2Ns-joOIlUnUVQaYqC-aE9Ox1Ai_0" />Here it is.
-
So, looking at your settings, I see that you have this code in there:
<meta name="google-site-verification" content="google72306736ac440a19.html" />Which one do you want to be using?

I’m afraid I have no way of knowing that. Which one did google provide? If htey provided both, you are just going to have to choose one. Or, reach out to google support.
