name servers

  Please tell me how to change my nameservers for my domain name. I don’t see it listed in my account, but according to ‘WhoIs’ WordPress is the registrar.

  When I checked the whois for andreahoxie.com, it listed Public Domain Registry as the registrar. That’s where you would update the nameservers for your domain,

  That is true, but when I made an inquiry I was told that I had to contact the company through which I acquired the name, and that would be WordPress.

  I’ve not seen that registrar associated with WordPress.com before, normally it’s Wild West Domains. I’ve tagged this thread for a staff member to assist.

  Hi @andreahoxie , you had mapping here at some point but the domain was not purchased here.

  If you’d like, since the domain is currently pointed here, you can buy mapping then update the DNS to point to your new host:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/custom-dns/

  You’ll still want to figure out where it’s registered, though, so you can pay the provider when it’s time to renew.
