Name servers needed in the zone file for .nl domains
-
I have a .nl domain purchased from GoDaddy (africa2000.nl). I previously asked for the zone file to be set up, and that was done for me. However, I still can’t get the domain working. I spoke to GoDaddy support, and they said that the name servers NS1.WORDPRESS.COM and
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM need to be added in the zone file (as per https://uk.godaddy.com/help/about-nl-domains-5336). Currently, they say, there is nothing in the zone file. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @concordlodge, I’ve verified you do have a zone file here for that domain.
What error do you get when you’re working with it?
-
When I try to update the Name Server records at GoDaddy to point to the wordpress name servers NS1.WORDPRESS.COM and NS2.WORDPRESS.COM, the GoDaddy site returns “The data provided cannot be used, please correct it and resubmit your request.”
I have spoken again to GoDaddy support and they said the zone file needs to have those name servers in it. They said the zone file was currently empty.
When I try to access http://www.africa2000.nl it says “www.africa2000.nl’s server DNS address could not be found”. -
@concordlodge if you’d like to map the domain to our servers, can you try buying the mapping first? You can do that here:
https://wordpress.com/domainsThen try pointing the domain to our server through GoDaddy. It may take a few hours to take effect, but it should do the trick.
-
Actually – now I see the domain is already mapped by another user. We’ll check this out. Thanks for your patience!

I’ve tried adding the IP addresses as well (198.181.116.9 & 198.181.117.9) but when I do that it says “IP address is required.” Are those the correct IP addresses?
-
These are the IPs for our nameservers, but it shouldn’t require them:
ns3.wordpress.com. 192.0.74.9
ns2.wordpress.com. 198.181.117.9
ns1.wordpress.com. 198.181.116.9
What is the exact error it’s giving currently when you try to add our nameservers?

Went in to GoDaddy and I got a completely different account screen. This let me enter and save the name servers and IP addresses (which were required). A couple of hours later and it works. I don’t know if it was something you did or something they changed, but I’m happy now. Thanks for the help.
-
Oh good, I was wondering if that was the case and hoping the error might help me figure out where you were and how to get you to the right screen.
I’m glad this is working for you!
