Name Servers redirect keeps reverting
-
My domain is purchased through WordPress. I’ve had it for a few years. However, I wanted to purchase a new theme and begin using WordPress through Bluehost, so I could use a custom theme. I’ve hosted other sites with Bluehost before.
I just need to point Name Servers to BlueHost, where I made an account, so I can use a custom theme. I don’t want to transfer my domain.
I keep naming the BlueHost servers under “Use the custom name servers listed below,” and it will save fine, but then as soon as I leave the window and come back it’s reverted to the first option, the WordPress servers. Why is this happening, and how do I fix it?
Thank you in advance.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hmmm, that is odd.
What nameservers has bluehost given you? I’ll make the change and see if it sticks.

I’m having the same problem, I want to point my domain to hostgator and it keeps reverting. It must be a bug you guys need to fix this.

So it appears that there is a slowdown currently at our registrar. We are looking to see what we can do on our end of things. But at the moment, the answer is that these nameserver switches should go through, it may just take longer than usual.

It says it goes through. I enter the name servers I want to point to, I get a message that my preferences were saved, but I still can’t access the full dashboard (to add a theme) from BlueHost. I go back to check, and the servers have redirected to the WordPress servers. I just keep repeating the process, and it keeps reverting my changes.
I’m trying to point to:
ns1.BlueHost.com
ns2.BlueHost.comThank you for your attention to this.

How long have you waited? It can take up to 72 hours for the DNS to settle down, not to mention you might be looking at a cached version of the dashboard, which will have the old settings. Try setting the nameservers, saving, then doing a cookie and cache clear and checking again.

Yes, our registrar is experiencing some sort of slowdown updating nameservers.
I would encourage you to change them and then wait for a while rather than coming right back and then changing them again.

Frustratingly, I have no update at the moment. I will see if there is anything new on the situation first thing tomorrow.

Howdy all.
So, the update is that whatever was stuck should be unstuck. Please let me know if nameserver changes are going through now. You may need to change them again if your previous change has not worked yet.
