  I thought WordPress was supposed to be free, but namecheap charged me for WordPress. Is this right?

  Hi there,

  The WordPress software is free, but you still need to pay for hosting and for a domain. That’s what NameCheap is probably charging you for.

  However, since you’re using the open-source WordPress.org software you need to seek help at these forums:
