Nameserver not Redirecting
-
I changed my nameserver to point to the wordpress address and it is not showing my website.
My website is hosted through HostGator, is it necessary to use the wordpress, to access all the wordpress features, or can I use the Hostgator nameserver as was and continue to use all the services. -
Hi there,
You only need to use our name servers if you’re connecting your domain to a site hosted on WordPress.com using our domain mapping upgrade.
I don’t see any WordPress.com sites in your account, just a self-hosted WordPress site that’s connected here via the Jetpack plugin. If that’s the site you’re speaking of, your name servers definitely should not be pointed at us, but at your hosting provider.
WordPress, in this case, is just the name of the software you’re using. So your website is not “on WordPress”. It’s just using the WordPress software, on Hostgator’s servers. That software is made by the community on WordPress.org.
You see your site in your WordPress.com account because you connected it here using a plugin, but aside from that your site has nothing to do with us.
Let me know if you have any questions about this.
