  We are no longer using WP for piccadillypress.co.uk. I get an error when trying to repoint the www & @ A Records to a new IP. I cannot change the NS either. I have read the FAQ and there is nothing relevant to my A Record error and the slider bar to switch off using WP for NS is not present.

  In essence, I need to stop using WP and put everything back to my original registrar, though cannot work out how to do that.

  To stop using WordPress.com for piccadillypress.co.uk, visit the domain registrar (fastnet.co.uk) and change the name servers of your domain. Your new host will provide that information.
