Natural theme – showing more than 3 news posts on home page

  Hi,

  Using Natural theme – but the theme was not bought under my account so I cannot post in the “premium theme” forums.

  I would like to show a bit more than 3 news posts on the homepage. Is there a way to do this?

  Hi Johan,

  Thanks for reaching out. I liked your website, cause disc golf is not popular here:)

  As long as Natural theme is not created by Automattic team, the best place to get professional answer is to ask theme authors: https://organicthemes.com/support/. But as long as you can not get their support, here we can only try to find a solution.

  The short answer to your question is NO, you can not amend the amount of posts on home screen, it is defined by theme.

  But I have played around with Natural theme and have two options, but they are not a solutions, but kind of workarounds.

  First option, a custom home page content shown using Blog Posts block.

  The three posts block is changed to 4 posts block, but its visual appearance is different. There are some more options of Blog posts block but none is same as the original Natural theme featured posts block.

  If you want to try same, here are steps how I did it (feel free to ask where necessary):
  1) Open Home page in editor and add to it Block Posts block. Configure Block post to show “Load more posts” button, filter some categories and so on;
  2) Go to My Sites> Appearance> Customize> Theme Options> Homepage> Tick Show Homepage Content > Save.
  3) I had a problem with old three posts block appearance under the new one with 4 posts: they were shown both. To eliminate the old, 3 posts one, I had to create a separate Category “empty category”, add one random post to that category, in My Sites> Appearance> Customize> Theme Options> Homepage> News Post Category choose “empty category” > Save. Then unattach that random post from the “empty category”.

  The other option would be to look for another theme that shows many posts on a first page and has a Featured Content section as you have now (first section below the menu).
  For that you can first go to My Sites> Appearance> Customize> Homepage Settings> tick “Your latest posts”> Save. Then choose a theme that has Featured Content.
  Tip: you can preview themes on top of your content by clicking on theme > Open Live Demo. Then Install only once find the suitable one. I liked Radiate theme.
