nav-menus.php times out and does not save changes

  hi there, i’ve browsed a few articles on this problem but have found no solutions. I have disabled plugins, used a default twenty16 theme, changed the max_input_vars to 5000

  nothing seems to work. Please can someone please advise.

  When going to my menu and deleting/editing items and clicking save, the nav-menus.php attempts to save and then timesout on the browser and does not save any of my changes.

  Just make sure you are using the latest version of WP and all the plugins are updated.

  Try editing your menu through Customizer.
