    ok i just figured it out. for anyone one wanting to know how this is done.
    go this route

    1. Dashboard, Appearance, Editor.
    2. cut this code

    <DIV id=access role=navigation>
    <?php /* Allow screen readers / text browsers to skip the navigation menu and get right to the good stuff */ ?>

    <DIV class=”skip-link screen-reader-text”>” href=”#content”><?php _e( ‘Skip to content’, ‘twentyten’ ); ?></DIV>
    <?php /* Our navigation menu. If one isn’t filled out, wp_nav_menu falls back to wp_page_menu. The menu assiged to the primary position is the one used. If none is assigned, the menu with the lowest ID is used. */ ?>
    <?php wp_nav_menu( array( ‘container_class’ =>’menu-header’, ‘theme_location’ => ‘primary’ ) ); ?>

    3. place this code after

    <DIV id=wrapper class=hfeed>

    and this should move the nav bar from under the header picture to the top of your page.</DIV>

    Please note that the wordpress.COM free hosted blog linked to your username is empty ie. devoid of content. If you are referring to a free hosted wordpress.com blog please post the URL for it starting with http://.

    Please also read this entry so you are clear on the differences between free blogs being free hosted on this wordpress.com multi-user blogging platform where we cannot edit theme or templates and free software installs for self hosting from wordpress.ORG.

    Posting solutions that apply to ONLY wordpress.ORG installs and themes to this wordpress.COM is not helpful. It causes confusion as our themes are code to run on this software and not on wordpress.ORG software. . The correct support forum for those with wordpress.ORG installs is here. http://wordpress.ORG/support

    How does one get rid of or use the embedded “home” in the navigation menu below the picture?

    The site linked to your username is not a free blog from and being free hosted by WordPress.com. I had to click through it to locate your WordPress.com blog. Please remove that link and replace it with a link to your WordPress.com blog.

    Dashboard -> Users -> Personal Settings -> then scroll down to Account Details. Then scroll down to where it says ‘Website‘ select the URL for your primary wordpress.com blog and then save changes.

    Now every time you sign into the forum we can all click on your username and your blog will be linked to it. And every time you leave a comment on a blog your username can be likewise clicked and your blog can be instantly located.

    The “Home” tab is provided for visitors who can click it and be returned to the front page from any page they are on in your blog. If you want to have an actual Home page that you include text on then create a static page first. > http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/

    Then create a custom menu to replace the standard page menu and include only the Pages, subpages, categories, subcategories, and custom links you want to display in it. http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
