navigation changed to route from archive to single post

  Currently when I click on a menu option from the drop down menu I’m taken to an archive for that project. Is there a way to instead link the navigation via the nav.php file to the first post entry for that menu option instead? I need to be able to show projects in sequence and want to maintain the forward back button look that shows when clicking on a thumbnail from the homepage.
