Navigation menu not updating

    I updated the links to one of my pages. However, if you click on that page in the navigation menu at the top of my website, it takes you to the old link which now just diplays: ‘Oops! That page can’t be found.’

    I’ve tried removing and adding the page back to the menu, I’ve even tried deleting the menu and adding it back again. But I can’t seem to make any updates to it.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Note: I’ve read some stuff about cache plugins. I don’t have any plugins installed at the moment so that’s not the issue.

    So the ‘My Work’ page currently has the default URL that was provided when I created the page.

    I changed the URL for the ‘My Work’ page to ‘portfolio.’ However, the menu item didn’t update. So when I clicked on ‘My Work,’ it would still go to the old ‘181-2’ URL which no longer existed. I would just get an “Oops! That page can’t be found” message.

    I didn’t want a broken link on my website, so I had to change the ‘My Work’ URL back to the default one.

    So what I need help with is how to change the URL to ‘portfolio’ and have it update in the menu.

    Thanks for taking the time to explain that. If i understand correctly when we click on My Work from the site menu it currently loads with this URL: https://ariellecontreras.wordpress.com/181-2/But what you want is for it to load with this one instead: https://ariellecontreras.wordpress.com/portfolio/?

    The portfolio slug is reserved for a custom post type. And while we can turn that off on the site (which I did for you) it doesn’t allow us to use /portfolio as the slug at all. It’s a bug on our end, but not something folks ask about much and therefor not going to be fixed in the near future. I did go ahead and add this case to the report for the issue.

    My suggestion is to reassign the slug to be something like /my-portfolio or /my-work again. If you need help getting that set up we can certainly help with the changes. Just let us know how you want to proceed.

    Hi there,

    I’ve tried changing the URL to multiple things, including /my-work. However, the navigation refuses to update.

    Since your last message, I:

    1) Updated the ‘My Work’ page URL to /my-work.
    2) I clicked on ‘My Work’ in the menu, and it just takes me back to the homepage.
    3) I tried deleting the navigation entirely and re-adding it, but the ‘My Work’ menu item is still just taking me back to the homepage.
    4) I then tried adding a custom link to the ‘My Work’ page, but that didn’t work either.

    Hi there,

    When you change the URL of your page it does not automatically update the menu link, that needs to be done manually now that the connection to the original page URL is broken.
