Navigation pane in Twenty Eleven now over two decks

Hi, absolute beginner here trying to help partner build website using the Twenty Eleven theme. All was going relatively swimmingly until I chose the “No” option of displaying text in the Header. Now the rectangular black box on which Home, About Me etc etc navigation headings sit is twice its depth and the navigation headings spill over two decks.

If I go back and choose the “Yes” option for displaying text in the Header, the problem rectifies itself but we don’t want the text in the header.
I’ll happily admit to being as dumb as a stump and a dunce when it comes to code and I’d be delighted if somebody could offer a solution.
    Many, many thanks.
