Hi remazera,
I’m checking on what might be possible here and I’ll come back to you as soon as I can :)

I’ve been looking into this and it won’t be possible to changing the menu styling to a dropdown or accordion with custom CSS. However, there are a couple of other themes which have this feature built in to a left hand menu:
So they are two themes you may want to consider.

Hi Gemma,
Thanks for your response.
That is a shame, I really like the Editor theme. In future, in case I decide to upgrade to business plan and get widgets, would I be able to play around the menus?
Thank you

Hi there,
In future, in case I decide to upgrade to business plan and get widgets, would I be able to play around the menus?
The WordPress.com Business Plan allows for the use of plugins which provides for a bit more flexibility when it comes to how your menus look. With tens of thousands of plugins I’m sure you’ll find something that will allow you to modify the menu in your desired manner.
If not, you’ll be able to create a child theme with the Business Plan allowing for the menu’s code to be modified into a drop-down.
