Nearly all Feedjit visitors last 7 days have been to an "unknown landing page"
-
I first noticed this on 14 January, and reported it (https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/my-stats-remain-on-visitors-0-and-views-0/page/4?replies=14#post-2214144) in a possibly unrelated topic. Since then, I have been watching the Feedjit counter periodically and noticed only one visit that wasn’t credited to an “unknown landing page.” This is exceedingly unusual as I typically probably see perhaps fewer than 1% of visits designated so.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
A sudden change from 1% or fewer visits to “an unknown landing page,” to 99.9% of visits so labeled.

Feedjit is a third party stat counter and our WordPress.COM staff do not provide support for it.

Hi. I’m aware that it is not a WordPress widget, but staff and other members might know why it suddenly stopped identifying the page it was landing on. I’ve been using it since 2008 on WordPress virtually without issue. I believe it’s one of the more popular live traffic feeds.

I use it on two blogs and have no issues with it. Perhaps Staff will be able to come up with a response to this. We shall see. :)

Correction: not showing the pages that visitors are landing on. Same results with Firefox and Google Chrome browsers.
-
Might be due to the change to https URL’s here – does your Feedjit code reflect the https change here – I think I saw an issue with https with a third party stats service and the person posting needed to get new code for their tracking widget here

Are both those blogs domain mapped? Domain mapping does not yet support https

The non-javascript Feedjit code is available here: http://feedjit.com/joinimg/. The code uses http. Adding an “s” doesn’t resolve the issue.
-
I could be wrong but I think visits to “an unknown landing page” are visits by bots.
Have you checked the FAQs at Feedjit?
http://feedjit.com/static/trafficFeedFaq.html*Only the Javascript Live Traffic Feed can show you the referring website, which page a user landed on and which link they clicked to leave. The Image Live Traffic Feed (or Run-Anywhere Widget) does show you the landing page, but only on Feedjit Live which you can access by clicking the widget.

@timethief,
I’ve often watched the Feedjit results closely over the past 6+ years, not only on this site but on other sites of mine. Ordinarily, 99% or fewer (my estimate) of the visits are to an identifiable page. If I do a major restructuring of the page hierarchy there will be a lot of “unknown landing page” results for awhile because of 404 errors due to post and page URL changes. That wasn’t the case this time. There was no recent restructuring of the pages preceding the onset of the issue, which I believe began on 14 January if not shortly before.Suddenly the “unknown landing page” results went from probably fewer than 1% to greater than 99.9 %, an increase of at least 100 times, or 10,000%.

@musicdoc1 — Since Feedjit is a third-party stats service, it may not work as expected for sites served over HTTPS. (You can read more about that shift to HTTPS in our “Reset the Net” blog post.) I’d recommend contacting Feedjit Help & Support for more help with that service.
