NEAT BLOG POSTS; BEST THEME?

    What is the most easy to use theme that will let me
    -display blog posts with no date
    -share a short exerpt of each post
    without paying more money? I updated to a premium ‘Purpose’ theme but it is not what I had hoped for. WordPress also took €2 on a Stripe payment through my site. I do not find it easy to seek clarity in all the information shared and I am not impressed with the endless suggestions on their posts that often do not work.
    Where is the most up to date information about WordPress?
