Need a blog, not a web site

It seems like you have removed the option to create a blog that hangs off the wordpress.com domain, which is all I need right now. Please advise if you require me to sign up for a domain so I can decide if I need to stop using this service.

A free WordPress.com site can be whatever you want it to be. If you want it to be a blog just make the blog page the front page and don’t add any more pages. Perhaps changing to a different theme might help if you don’t like the look of the current setup.

Thanks. I actually figured this out, after looking more closely at the suggestions. Unfortunately, it feels like the emphasis is really to get people to sign up for a domain and monetize the service (I have no objections), but it would be nice if the *free* option were more obvious.

Having a custom domain or a free .wordpress.com domain makes very little difference to how most sites look (unless you go all-out Business plan customization).
