need a free theme that just look like a regular webpage, & font options

    I may as well ask since I’m here, I am struggling to find a theme that is basically just like a wordpad looking thing. I find it completely baffling that this site is mainly for blogs, but (at least when using the page option) it makes it almost impossible to just do a simple webpage with text. Like a webpage/website to tell your story, tell stories, news, etc. I do not have time to 1) go through all the themes to find the free ones amongst them. 2) have my home page wiped every single time I change the theme. 3) try it out to see if it lets you change the font with that theme. 4) try it out with already fully written pages to see if it actually shows up looking non distorted.

    Most of the themes that look like what I’m after (aka not lots of columns and blocks and specifically photos in the example which I obviously avoid) still cause the site to have massive font for the title which can’t be changed (how an I change this??!) and worst of all, say I’ve wrote a 5000 word article, it’s in a newspaper column format/layout. So you have to scroll down a needlessly narrow body of text. I need to know how to get the text to take up more of the page horizontally.

    Does anyone know what themes might do one or the other?
    The font being an option to change is less of a big deal (and I only found out this was possible after google repeatedly told me to go to a n option on the “appearance” menu that does not exist, because none of the themes I chose so far have font options) but I suppose changing the font might help this problem.

    If anyone has a list or if anyone can drop one example they know of hopefully I’ll have a list in the end, and also this list can help others who find my question(s).

    I’m pretty sure I was clear but if it’s really needed I can come back with photos of what I mean by “a regular webpage”. I mean a page title then text with paragraphs and not much else. I use the page option as I’m not interested in the blog option, but I don’t know if this is any different as far as the formatting.

    I don’t want to use code or buy anything to do this. I’m on wordpress.com. Thanks

    Hi @finnishlearner, most newer themes can be extensively customized to have a lot of images, or not. And if you’ve got a plan that supports Styles, you can change the font size as you’d like, too. If you don’t have Premium or higher, I’d recommend choosing a theme with fonts and colors you like, then customizing the layout to your liking.

    Here’s a very simple text-focused theme for blogging:

    You can customize it to show your posts, or an excerpt, or remove the author — whatever suits you best. Let us know if that helps!
