Need a photo gallery!
-
So I’m trying to really flesh out my site and I’ve got the design the way I like etc, but I’m trying to create a page under my “photofolio” section that’s a nice looking, easy to maneuver photo gallery. I’m having trouble finding any way to put one in. Can someone please suggest some ideas?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Once you’ve got the Gallery basics down, you might be interested in this: http://gammagirl.wordpress.com/2008/07/27/not-the-official-wordpresscom-gallery-faq/

I have recently started using the gallery feature and have been having a hard time resizing the image. I have selected the thumbnail size for the gallery, but I would like a smaller size when a particular image is selected.
Help! -
@jillsonsteby
Go to your Settings > Media and change the default image size to whatever you prefer.
For the images you have already uploaded, go to the visual post editor, click on the image, click the mountain icon that appears, change the size option, click update, save. -
I have the images in a gallery. I have changed the images to thumbnail several times, but when I open them they are the largest size.

What I see is an empty Galleries page on your blog in the horizontal menu. There are no images on that page. I think you may need to review the Gallery documentation and how it is designed to operate. A gallery will display a set of thumbnail images attached to a particular post or page. Therefore you need to upload the images into that Page titled “Galleries”. http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/gallery/

If you are not referring to that “Galleries” page but are referring to a Post then please provide an active link to the post in question starting with http://

I was referring to a page I set up under the “galleries” called “nature” found here – http://jillsonsteby.com/galleries/nature/
I had created it following the Gallery documentation. -
If your do not wish the full sized image to appear when thumnails are clicked then the only solution I can think of is to upload thumbnail images and not the full sized images. I’m hoping another Volunteer will have another more elegant solution.

Timethief is right: there’s no other solution, elegant or not. Gallery images can link to the real-size original when clicked, or to an attachment page with the image in “full-size” (= widest that fits in your main column). If you don’t want this, then you have no use for the gallery feature: you need to downsize copies of your images to the desired size in an image editing application, and upload and insert those copies as regular images (selecting Link: None).
This will also give you better quality by the way – see here:

So I follow the directions, edit the gallery by choosing some photos to show and some to hide, and then I “update all changes”, but the updates don’t happen.
Why not? -
If by show and hide you mean the tabs next to each thumbnail in the gallery settings pop-up, those are just for opening each image to edit the image itself. To exclude some images from showing in the gallery, you need to modify the gallery shortcode in the HTML editor – see here:

Also Gallery-A Demo Blog which is right now sporting the new Twenty Eleven theme. The displayed theme is frequently rotated.
