Need a refund NOW
-
Hello,
I must have done something wrong when signing up, my old browser did not show the words fully, the wrong name was created … I wanted thehippiehomesteader NOT wwwdotthehippiehomesteaderdotcom but I was trying to connect it to my already owned domain name. I’ve read more on how to do that, but now I need to create another blog and add the premium service to THAT ONE, not the wrong one I created.PLEASE REFUND the premium service I just paid for (about an hour or so ago) on wwwdotthehippiehomesteaddotcom and then I will create another one – the one I wanted thehippiehomestead and connect it the right way to my already owned domain name. PLEASE RESPOND THIS TIME!!!! I am notifying you well within the 48 hours.
Also I received a receipt for payment on that first purchase, to the email address I entered, but then no email with info or details in it as to where to go to begin, as the sign-up page said. Please resend that …

Not to worry, we can get this straightened out.
WordPress.com sites are given a yoursite.wordpress.com URL (in your case, wwwdotthehippiehomesteaderdotcom.wordpress.com). We have an upgrade, Domain Mapping, that allows users who already own a domain to replace that yoursite.wordpress.com URL with their own yoursite.com URL (in your case, thehippiehomesteader.com). traffic to yoursite.com will be directed to yoursite.wordpress.com and site visitors will only ever see the yoursite.com URL.
I am seeing I am seeing thehippiehomesteader.com point correctly to your wwwdotthehippiehomesteaderdotcom.wordpress.com WordPress.com site.
It can take 24-48 hours for domain/DNS changes to propagate throughout the internet. It typically happens faster than that, but it really depends on your ISPs update frequency. If you are still not seeing the correct site appear after 48 hours has elapsed, please contact me again.
There is no need to make a new site. Though if you really dislike the wwwdotthehippiehomesteaderdotcom.wordpress.com URL (Keeping in mind that users will only ever see thehippiehomesteader.com), you can change it by following these instructions:

Let me know if you have further questions or if anything is unclear.

Hello again, and thanks for responding.
Yes I’ve seen that I can keep the wrong name I signed up with and the blog will point to the correct domain name … it works! I’ll keep it the way it is, then, since no one will see it and the correct domain name can be typed in to a search engine.
I have started to work with the creation tools, and I find it all so mind boggeling … but I’ll get the hang of it I’m sure. One thing, I would like to have a static page for the first, (or home, or splash page) and I was able to create a page – but can’t figure out how to get it to be the FIRST or home page. (I even typed a number 1 in the box provided, but it is not changing that page to be the home page.) I have not added a theme yet (I will, just haven’t gotten there yet) and I would like to get the pages the way I want them, at least. Can you advise on that? Thanks again for your previous help.

I’m seeing “The First Shovelfull Of Dirt” as being your front page. So I’m guessing that you were able to figure that out yourself.
If not, or if you have other questions, please let me know.

Yes, rootjosh, I was able to figure it out myself. A feat I am probably more surprised about than you are.
I am so SO amazed that, although at first this “interface” looks quite daunting, WordPress has proven to be one of the easiest things to figure out. It does an incredible job of giving me options and putting things just where I want them … and the handy follow up emails with information about the tools available seem to arrive in my inbox exactly when I need them. All my questions have been answered, and I can’t thank you enough for staying with me until I could get off the “training wheels” and head out on my own. I am so glad I stuck with WordPress, it has turned out to be exactly what I was looking for. Thanks again.

Great to hear!
Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you. Otherwise, thanks for using WordPress.
