Need a wordpress A or CName to connect my email to upgraded domain name
-
Hi ,
I have upgraded my account to use a domain name that I already own. Yahoo was the provider, when I contacted them for the MX information they told me that this information was not public and I should downgrade my account to a custom email account and I did. I did this so that I would not be paying for hosting with yahoo anymore. But in order to route my email account to the new wordpress account (which is under my old domain name of oliviamariedesigns.com) he said I need an A or CNAME record from wordpress of where to point my domain to….can you please give me the A or CName record for wordpress? Thanks.

Their method of pointing your domain to your WordPress.com via an A Record requires using an IP address or specific server, which we don’t support. Your site does not have a static IP address or specific server. Instead, requests to load your site are shifted between several IP addresses and servers in order to balance the demand on servers. This means that specifying an IP address or server won’t work.
You can direct your domain to your WordPress.com blog by changing your name servers to:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COMProviding MX Records to email customers is an industry-standard practice, and I don’t know why they’d be refusing your request.
I recommend asking them again. If you get the MX Records, you can add them following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/add-email/add-other-email/
