Need a Wp- content/plugin to avoid content theft

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

    1. I feel there is a need for Wp- content/plugin to avoid content theft in wordpress.com platform. I could see people copy-paste material in mouse button. Do we have anything to protect this form content-theft. As authors, we need to know who is actually using our contents.

    2. Some of the contents/ pages I want allow access only to login members and other pages/contents free to everybody. Is there any way to do it?

  • Hello Saidatt,

WordPress.com doesn’t allow the use of plugins for safety reasons. Plugins are in use on the self-hosted version of WordPress (which is wordpress.org). Here’s a sum up of the differences between the .COM and the .ORG version, for your information :)

In order to prevent content thefts, there’s not much the system can actively do for you. However, there are a number of precautions you can use to cover your back. You can also run routine checks online to make sure nobody has stolen your content. In this page you can find the most used and recommended practice to fight content theft, I hope you’ll find it useful :)

As for the last question, you can manage the visibility of pages and posts by going to the Publish box of your page/post editor. Select the Visibility option (it’s an eye icon) and click on Password protected or Private.
The first option allows you to set a password that the readers must know in order to access the page. The Private option allows the view of the content only to Editors and Administrators.

Here’s how to invite users to your blog (so then you can set their roles as Editors or Administrator). Please note that in order to invite users to join your blog they need to have a WordPress account.

Hope it’s all clear! If you have any doubts leave a comment below, happy to help.
    Cheers!
