Need access
-
Hello,
I am the technology director for my school district (Greene County Schools in Eutaw, AL). The high school history department had this website hosted during previous years, but lost access to it because they are no longer able to connect with the person who developed and maintained the website for them. How can the teacher and students gain access to to this site so they can maintain it? Please advise.

Hi there:
To avoid confusion, there are three different “WordPress” at play here:
- The free, open-source WordPress software which powers your website.
- WordPress.org which is the open-source project that works on the WordPress software and where you can get the software for free to use on your own hosting provider.
- WordPress.com which is a managed hosting provider of the WordPress software and with whom you’re contacting now.
Since your site is not hosted with us, we’re limited in what we can help with and advise. But I can get you pointed in the right direction to get help.
It looks like your site is hosted with Media Temple. You may want to contact them and see if they can help you regain access to the site. Since they host the site, they also have access to the site’s files and backend and can help you get access. They may need some sort of proof (like billing receipts, etc.) to do this for you.
Otherwise, the only other way to get access is to find the person who originally developed and maintained the site.
I hope that helps!
