Need access
-
Hello. I think I misunderstood something. I was under the impression that once my paid website expired I could revert to a free blogsite and was hoping to still have access to the content posted. Can you help me with that? Thank you in advance.

Hi there,
I assume you’re referring to joyrestored.co?
What you say above is true of sites hosted here on WordPress.com. When you create a site on WordPress.com, you get a free example.wordpress.com address. Should you add a custom domain to that, and let that domain expire, your site just goes back to using the free address. Hosting itself is free on WordPress.com, so that can’t expire.
But your site, joyrestored.co, wasn’t hosted on WordPress.com, just connected here with the Jetpack plugin. So your site doesn’t have a free example.wordpress.com address to go back to, and we don’t have any of your site’s data on our servers.
Your site was created using the open source version of WordPress, made by the community on WordPress.org, and you were paying a company to host that software for you. If your domain expired, the chance is good your hosting also expired, which would have resulted in your host taking the site offline and deleting its files from their servers.
The only people who might be able to help you in this case is your old hosting provider. Hopefully they still have a backup of your site on file which they can provide to you.
I’m afraid I have no way to tell who that hosting provider is, though. But if you check your emails and bank statements you should be able to find records of payments you made to them for you domain and hosting plan.
